Oral DNA Bacteria Testing

The bacteria that causes periodontal disease can now be tested for and isolated using a simple saliva test. With the detailed report from Oral DNA Labs, we are now able to isolate and quantify periodontal bacteria. Knowing the different types of bacteria that are present and their quantities, Dr. Carter, can come up with the most effective treatment plan and evaluate treatment progress better.

3D Imaging for Surgical Success

A key to the safety and success of complex dental surgery is advanced radiography. Cone beam digital CT scanning allows us to take 3-Dimensional, low radiation, high resolution CT scans of your facial anatomy. We can then view these images from different angles, take precise measurements, and easily share 3-D data with other doctors.

BioHorizons Laser Lok Implants

An important aspect of dental implant success is a secure connection between the implant and the jaw. To help ensure this connection is the best it can be, we use BioHorizons implants with Laser-Lok technology. While other implants use a rough surface to bond to the surrounding tissue, Laser-Lok technology is unique in that it uses series of laser inscribed, cell-sized microchannels that allow for tight bonding to both bone cells and gum cells.

Donor Grafting with AlloDerm®

A toothy smile caused by gum recession is often treated by extracting soft tissue from the roof of your mouth.  Using AlloDerm Regenerative Tissue Matrix, however, this procedure is not necessary. AlloDerm’s high success rate and predictable outcomes allow us to effectively restore your smile without additional surgical procedures.

AlloDerm is an acellular dermal matrix derived from donated human skin that undergoes a multi-step proprietary process that removes both the epidermis and the cells that can lead to tissue rejection. AlloDerm has been used in a wide variety of soft tissue grafting procedures such as root coverage, soft tissue augmentation and guided bone regeneration with a consistent record of excellent results. AlloDerm has a safety history of more than a decade. Introduced in 1994 for treating burn patients, AlloDerm has proved its versatility and safety in more than a million diverse procedures in general, orthopedic, urogenital, and dental surgeries. AlloDerm owes its exemplary safety to the safeguards at every step starting from donor screening to the final packaging.

Platelet Rich Plasma & Bone Morphogenic Protein

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a by-product of blood (plasma) that is rich in platelets (cells that help the blood clot). Until recently, it has only been used in hospitals. The cost and large amount of blood associated with separating out the platelets from the blood made it impossible to accomplish anywhere else. Due to new technology, Dr. Carter is now able to cost-effectively harvest and produce the necessary platelets with a small blood draw during outpatient surgery.
